From the Scoutmaster’s chair
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Troop 4 is turning 83 this year. Welcome to the oldest Troop in Gardner! For 83 years, Scouts like yourself have had similar experiences, campouts, activities, meetings and of course fun! – This year we have challenged the PLC to be creative and develop meeting plans that are different. We may also have a guest speaker at a virtual or in-person meeting. Stay tuned. Mr. R.
Change it up!
On March 1, we will honor our tradition of changing up the top PLC members. Brady will become our SPL and Leonard will become our ASPL. Are you interested in a position? Have a chat with Mr. R. Our PLC is planning super meetings. Some will be Virt* (virtual) some IP (in person). All of the in-person meetings will be at the church, in the driveway with a campfire. See the schedule

Game Night Change to Movie Night
Due to COVID, we have had to try different activities. Some activities like
our traditional game night went through a change. This year it was a movie night. We rented a movie theater and saw the movie Jurassic Park. After the movie, we went back to the church for pizza and our traditional gift swap. Thanks to the PLC and Mr.
Brinker for pulling this together.

Troop 4 achieves Gold status on Journey To Excellence! Journey To Excellence (or JTE for short) is a measuring system that all Scouting units use to review the past and plan for
our coming year. Some of the criteria is very easy for us as we regularly have youth advancement, Troop Committee meetings, PLC meetings, community service and much more. Congratulations to Troop 4 for once again achieving Gold on JTE!

Dress for the weather and bring 2 water bottles and trail snacks. Most of this is trail hiking. Be sure to wear boots. Sneakers are not recommended. Thanks to Jameson for helping to pull this together.
Scout Sunday February 7th
A Scout is Reverent. On Scout Sunday, February 7th we will attend the 10:30AM Mass at Holy Rosary. At the end of the Mass, we will present the charter and a very special envelope to St. Vincent De Paul. Due to COVID, we have limited seating available in church. If you are interested, please see Mr. R. ASAP. Thanks to our Charter Rep. Mr. Sioui for making this happen.
On Saturday, February 13 from 9am to 1pm, we have been invited to experience ice fishing at the Bettez camp on Brogan Rd. Where is Brogan Rd? Go past the gate to Camp Collier (Do not enter the camp!) take your next right at the mail boxes and drive all the way to the lake. You will see the Bettez Brothers truck at their family camp. Thank you to Leonard for setting this up.
